COSFF 2012

Cinéaste One Student Film Festival

COSFF 2012

For  the  love  of  art  and  a  hope  to  develop  local  film  culture  in  Karachi,  Cinéaste  One  Student  film  festival  is  launched.

Students  exhibiting  in  the  festival  attended  a  summer  filmmaking  workshop  at  Alliance  Française.    The  workshop  covered  basic  film  theory  and  encouraged  students  to  find  their  inner  creativity.    The  goal  is  to  re-‐establish  film’s  relationship  with  art.    Emphasis  was  given  to  create  narrative  (storyline)  films  through  experimentation  and  minimum  verbal  exposition.    Communication  through  movement  is  emphasized.

First  time  filmmakers  take  center  stage  with  their  short  films.    The  creation  and  exhibition  of  genre  bending  student  films  within  the  space  of  four  months  marks  a  stepping-‐stone  in  the  promotion  of  a  progressive  local  film  culture.

Cinéaste  One  is  not-‐for-‐profit  cultural  organization. Cinéaste  One  aims  to  develop  an  academic  system  for  producing  and  exhibiting  films,  helping  further  the  potential  of  aspiring  filmmakers  and  encouraging  film  literacy.
